Markey Group carries out regular fundraising activities and is proud of its community engagement which includes strong partnerships with local colleges, universities and schools.
Our efforts for charity include our director Paul Markey completing the London Marathon and Andy Barham, one of the managers from our Premiere business, running and cycling 900 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just eight days.
Within the community we believe it is vital to help prepare young people for the world of work and we do this by supporting a variety of initiatives in schools. We also work with local colleges to provide the on-the-job learning element of students' NVQ studies. Markey Construction has its own community development manager, Sarah Button, who is behind a host of initiatives.
Our involvement in the community includes youth employment opportunities and we've signed up to the yes2jobs initiative which helps young people from 14 to 24 years old, to get the information, gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into employment
We've also recently recruited two new apprentices who are based in Premiere’s supply chain department. Up to the end of 2014 we aim to offer six apprenticeship places covering a variety of roles.
