  • IT Helpdesk / 1st Line Support

  • About the role:

     

    We are looking for a motivated and technically-minded individual to assist our IT Manager in providing effective and proactive IT support for approximately 200 employees.

     

    Main duties:

     

    · To help ensure efficient computer operations so end users are able to accomplish their business tasks. This will include receiving, prioritising, documenting and resolving helpdesk requests through our helpdesk systems.

    · Resolve issues with the use of research, helpdesk tools and remote access software as well as giving in-person, hands on help at the users’ desktop.

    · Field incoming requests via our Helpdesk system, Email, and Phone in a professional manner to both internal and external employees.

    · Help ensure the efficient running of our Windows Desktop/Laptop network.

    · Record, track and document helpdesk requests, including work completed and resolutions.

    · Access software updates, patches, drivers and Knowledge base answers from the internet to help resolve problems.

    · Perform
    preventative maintenance and health-checks to Group IT assets.
    · To provide support for our Mobile devices (Android & iOS) users.

    · To assist in project work and/or ad hoc requests from the IT Manager.

    · To roll out new laptops and Desktops to users using standard builds from Ghost and Clonezilla.

     

     

    What we are looking for

     

    To succeed in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

     

    · Good general technical skills and ability.

    · Good knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (XP, Windows 7, Server 2003, Server 2008, Server 2012 etc).

    · Good knowledge of Exchange and Active Directory management.

    · Good knowledge of IT Hardware (PC’s, Laptops, Printers, mobile devices etc).

    · Understanding of Networking Infrastructure.

    · Excellent troubleshooting skills.

    · Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    · Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.

     

    In addition, knowledge of the following is also highly desirable:

     

    · Good knowledge of Android and iOS Phones, for general troubleshooting.

    · Good knowledge of Windows Applications – Microsoft Office, Sage Sales Logix (CRM), Sage Line 500 (ERP) etc would be advantageous.

    · Understanding of VMWare Virtualisation.
